Water ionizer price range

Herbert F.: I want to give my wife a water ionizer for her silver wedding anniversary. While searching, I came across water ionizers with a price range from €40 to over €4000! Is the cheapest the worst and the most expensive the best?

  • The term “water ionizer,” which came into being about 30 years ago, originally referred to electrolysis cells —> Diaphragm, with which you can produce at least two types of electrolyte water, which are now referred to as alkaline and acidic activated water.
  • These electrolyte waters had been registered as drug specialties in Germany since the 30s, but no one actually knew why they worked. There was also only one small factory where they were manufactured. For more information, see the keyword –> Natterer.
  • As manufacturing technology improved and household electrolysis devices were sold, pH measuring devices were used to show customers how the devices changed the water. During electrolysis, water molecules are broken down into the water ions H+ and OH-, so people began to talk about water ionizers. The ratio of the two water ions determines the measurable pH value.
  • In professional circles, people usually spoke of “alkaline ionized water”, while popular people simply referred to the cationic part of the electrolyte water as “alkaline water” because the sellers always argued with pH measurements and, especially in Japan, there was a lot of talk about hyperacidity. As a result, the word “water ionizer” gradually became associated with the production of “basic water” without distinguishing it from a chemical lye. This is how today's product confusion came about, which I organized in a graphic at the beginning of the first part of the book.
  • Alkaline water can be easily produced without diaphragm electrolysis. To do this, no acid is removed from the water, but a chemical is added that makes the water alkaline. The variety of these footboard products, which are also offered under the name water ionizer, is under the heading —> chemical water ionizers analyzed.
  • The term “water ionizer” cannot be protected and is therefore, contrary to its original meaning, also used for chemical water additives, which are given the appearance of a “device” through clever packaging. Experts are therefore trying to define a more precise term, but there is still no consensus. I created the artificial term Hydrionator® for an electrolytic water ionizer and had it protected. Every manufacturer of such a device can get a free right to use it from me. I don't see any other way to clear up the confusion in the market at the moment.
  • What you should give your wife is a water ionizer based on diaphragm electrolysis. There are simple ones —> Top ionizer with two electrodes and continuous devices with built-in pre-filter and one —> Electrolysis cell with multiple —> Electrodes. Convenient devices with automatic self-decalcification and long-term guarantees cost around €2000 (as of 2014). I wouldn't spend more. So the most expensive is not the best.
  • Get advice from a specialist who doesn’t also have other water treatment techniques “in their bag”. You are also welcome to find out more about my current recommendations regarding technology and suppliers of water ionizers on the website I designed, www.quantomed.com. There I also explain my knockout criteria based on 10 years of experience. In any case, you shouldn't surprise your wife, but rather involve her in the purchase decision.
