The Nordenau phenomenon
The water from the slate mine in the Hochsauerland became world famous thanks to Japanese research, although it was never recognized as healing water in Germany, as Shirahata claimed. Nevertheless, today it is bottled and exported to Far Eastern countries with great success. The claim also emerged in Germany that it was a type of natural form of alkaline activated water. I visited the slate mine for the first time in 2006 and could not find any similarities. Because it was only slightly basic (pH 8,19) and the ORP was oxidative with (+)134 mV (CSE)
10 years later (2016) I found that the Nordenau water, which is now available in bottles, had an even lower pH of 7,5 and an even more oxidative ORP of (+) 244 mV (CSE). Neither an electronic measurement nor with titration drops H2 blue™ found even a small amount of dissolved hydrogen.
